Time it keeps on peeling off the paint
It seeps through and twists and the truth's made revealing
My optimistic nature had sewn many goals
But fooling myself was a plan sure wrought with holes

I fought for things I didn't understand
I cut through towers with both of my hands
I didn't think how they might bruise
Tons of boulders fell from my use

And in the end, I changed my mind...

And then realized I was partisan, my campaigns all feigned
I was chased through the forestry
By their powerful cavalry
Yet I made an escape

The clouds are falling down
And I was only looking forwards
The path that I carved out is
Crooked and confusing to follow
And everything just cancels out
I don’t believe I’m moving at all
But the clouds, the clouds still fall

I’m hiding out in Missouri
Crouching low in the crop field that nourishes me
I’ve been riding the deer here
Tryin’ to get my head clear
And see what there is to see

But the corn, it points me inwards
Towards fire pits and water slides
I know I have to ride
I deserve this maze
My future’s filled with penance, searching
And hiding out in crops
The crops, the crops that lock me up
