A beckoning darkness was chewing us up
When far past the brook I sensed the warmth of a rising sun
I stretched my eyes while I could but the sliver slipped into the earth
It stained my eyes and left a silver gloss in its berth, in its birth

I see this empty village with a glint from the moon
This newfound perspective confounds me - I'm unsure what’s the truth
I stretched my eyes and was bound with a beauty from the night
I abandoned a desolate world and I’m not sure if that was right
